February 2019 Planning Meeting Minutes
October 2018 Planning Meeting Minutes
October 8, 2018
Judy called the meeting to order at 6:10. 16 people were present.
Minutes from the September 10th meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s Report — Jack Deck — as of 9/25/18 (11 cents interest)
Balance $2,397.89
Introductions were made - New attendees — Gary Suckow
Missing Classmates: Judy passed around a list of people missing since the last Reunion Booklet to see if committee attendees knew where they might be. Some are in town but we do not know how to get in contact with them. We will continue to try to get in touch with them.
Communications correction from 9/10/18 meeting:
Classmate Jeff Roe has offered to sing and play for one of our events. Jeff plays at Ridler’s Dueling Piano Bar in downtown Spokane on Friday nights when he is in Spokane. He travels a lot, opening for many big name celebrities. The committee voted to invite Jeff to play for our reunion. We will leave it up to Jeff as to which evening he would like to play. It would be best to have him Saturday evening because that is the main event. It would not be for the entire evening. We could work him in with the DJ.
DJ for Saturday: David Zimmer is a DJ that also does Karaoke, providing 4 mics and lights. It would cost $400. David currently plays at Ike and Susan’s on Wednesday night. Judy & others may go to Ike & Susan’s to see his program.
OLD BUSINESS:
A. Reunion Directory: Judy contacted Craig Barber at the Printing Center. Craig will do the booklets if our group will put it together in black and white like we did last time. It should not cost much more. Patty Hahn Schlaeger from the class of 1963 has volunteered to organize it for us as she did before. We will need people to gather information and assemble it working with Patty. We need continued discussion regarding photos for the book and when we will have it available (at the reunion or after). Ruthie, Connie, Judy D & Judy H, Roxy and others volunteered to work on the directory.
B. “In Memory Video” of deceased classmates: Judy mailed the CD and Flash drive to Doug Jacobson and sent him a list of the names of deceased classmates that need to be added. Doug needs the song we will be using as background music.
C. Moose Lodge: Channing Hartelius (not present), Ron Vihinen and Basil Jacobson said things are lined up. Are we going to provide soda and water?
D. Clark & Lewie’s: Sherry presented a menu from Clark & Lewie’s. We will probably do heavy hors d’oeuvres. It was suggested we charge $30. We will look at it again next meeting.
E. Meadow Lark Country Club Brunch: Cost & Time are tentative. Channing was not present to give a report.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Committee Reports:
1. 50/50 Raffle — Jack Deck will take charge of the 50/50. He will need people to help sell tickets.
2. Gift Baskets—Alma Wilcox Winberry will do gift baskets. Discussion took place regarding raffling the baskets and how many. It was proposed that since items will be donated that we should have a basket as a door prize each evenng and not raffle them. The committee voted to do 2 baskets and have them as theme baskets. We will make sure Alma will be okay with this decision.
3. Detectives—We continue to need everyone to do “some” detective work and search for missing classmates using Facebook, obituaries at Tribune, & Library, classmates.com, ancestry.com, www.zbasearch, www.smartpages.com and any other sites you may know about. September 2018 Planning Meeting Minutes
September 10, 2018 6:10
Judy called the meeting to order and passed around the 50 Reunion Booklet and had the people present make a check by their name to indicate they were present at the meeting. 16 people were present.
Introductions were made. New attendees included Rick Herzog, Ernie Van Vleet and Lynn Taskila.
A call for the approval of the minutes for the August 13th meeting was made. The minutes were sent out by email and copies were available at the meeting. They were accepted as received. Judy checked to see how many people were receiving the minutes by email and most were.
The Treasurer’s Report:
After the donation from Karin Newman was deposited our current balance is $2,397.78. The Embark Credit Union savings account was closed and moved to a checking account at Prairie Mountain Bank. There are no monthly bank fees and the checks are free.
Communications:
There was no correspondence to report. Judy Deck forgot to present a very important and exciting communication from Jeff Roe who has offered to sing and play for us during one of our events. Will be presented at the next meeting. Sorry Jeff!
OLD BUSINESS:
A. Reunion Directories: Judy contacted Craig Barber at the Printing Center. He indicated he could do our books if someone would put it together as they did last time. If we do the pictures in black and white it should not be much more than last reunion’s directory. Judy contacted Patty Hahn Schlaeger from the Class of 63 and she agreed to help us again with this directory.
We had a discussion on how we could get recent photos of our classmates. Sherry
Kerr Brady suggested that we could have a photographer at the reunion to take pictures at the door as well as other pictures through the evening that people could purchase. She will contact a person to check on the availability and get more information. By doing pictures that evening we will have to complete the directories after the reunion. There will be further discussion on this issue.
B. “In Memory Video” Basil Jacobson’s son said he would do the video for us again this reunion. Apparently the flash drive we used last time has been misplaced. We are checking to see if anyone remembers where it might be.
C. Bison Pins: The Bison pins are available from the company. However, the Committee voted not to have the pins this reunion. We will use the left over 33 pins from the last reunion.
D. Moose Lodge: Moose Governor, Mike Gray stated that wine is available in Sutter Home mini bottles and we can buy our keg beer from the Moose. A full bar is also available. Ron Vihinen and Basil Jacobson said they would have their committee take care of the beverages. The committee voted to have Clark & Lewie’s cater the food for the Saturday night event. A catering menu will be presented at the next meeting. There is a $155 room charge for the Lodge. It is for liability insurance. The committee voted unanimously to pay the insurance. The same DJ we had at TJ’s is available to set-up karaoke. The cost is $400. He will do lights and have 4 mics. There was no vote taken.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. Appointments to Committees: Judy passed around a sheet for people to sign-up for committees.
1. Reunion Booklet — people are needed to begin reviewing the current classmate information and gather current photos of individuals.
2. 50/50 Raffle — Jack Deck and company will take charge of the 50/50. We need people to help sell tickets. It was asked why we have a 50/50 and Judy stated that it helps to offset future costs for mailings, the booklets and other miscellaneous costs that arise.
3. Alma Wilcox Winberry will make “Gift Baskets” to auction off at the reunion. Alma has asked that we donate “good, quality” items to use in the baskets. Janet McFarlen will help Alma with the baskets.
4. Detectives — We really need everyone to do “some” detective work and search for missing classmates using Facebook, obituaries at Tribune & Library, classmates.Com, ancestry.com, www.zbasearch, www.smartpages.com and any other sites you may know about. Connie Jackson O’Loughlin and Jeri Brown Browne will work as a committee to fine missing classmates. Please help them. The list is posted on our web site.

TENTATIVE Ideas Suggested:
Friday night, August 16, 2019 – Informal gathering at the Do Bar and inviting all members of GF Central Class of 1964 to join us there.
Saturday, August 17, 2019 – Moose Club in Black Eagle, informal like we did at the 50th Reunion.
Sunday, August 18, 2019 – Brunch at the Country Club in private rooms, not the dining room.
1964 GFHS Teachers and Administration will again be invited so if you know of any please let us know. An updated Class Directory will be printed again.
Cheryl Reichert and Channing Hartelius generously offered to once again pay to have the 15th Street Bridge lite in memory of our classmates who have
passed away.
We have a lot of work to do before next summer and would really appreciate any classmates who might want to help out. Unfortunately, we have added many more classmates to our “Missing List”, so we really need some Class Investigators to help find them.
